About Me
My New Year's Resolutions for 2013 were to create a website, try to keep a journal, and to read at least one book per month. And what better way to keep me all my self promises rolled into one than to start my own online monthly book club with a blog? That is what you see now, my Idle Hours Book Club website and blog. Well, the blog is not going so well because the website design happens to take more time than I was hoping, but I have been reading. I've also kept up with editing and the reviews of books, which in a way are journal entries. Okay maybe that's a stretch, but two out of three resolutions isn't bad (especially since they have nothing to with dieting or dating)....
I am a mostly-stay-at-home mom with two children. Emma is a six year old drama queen in all-day kindergarten. Cooper is an energetic three year old monkey, and you can't take your eyes off of without him getting into anything and everything. Plus, I have a fiancé that works third shift that I have to feed and clean up after. So needless to say, I don't have an abundance of free time. That why I named this site Idle Hours, because any spare time I have, I spend reading and writing for my club.

My Reading Style
Since I am a slow reader to begin with, the type of books I read are mostly young adult, because they take less time to finish. The genres I usually stick to are fantasy, mythology, folklore, and (my favorite) realistic, (Anti-)Utopian science fiction. And more often than not they are a series, because I believe it's hard to tell a whole story within the pages of just one book. I also enjoy mysteries and sometimes autobiographies. Although, every once and awhile I do read something out of my comfort zone because of someone's recommendation or review. Below are some examples of my favorite books I have read:
Fantasy and Folklore: Harry Potter Series, Twilight Saga
Mythology: The Key Trilogy (Greek Mythology)
Sci-Fi: Hunger Games Series, The Giver, The Host, The Matched Trilogy (have not finished yet...)
Mysteries: Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, Robert Langdon Stories (by Dan Brown)
